I hope this finds everyone OK and in the Christmas spirit! I realize ours is a backbreaking job this time of the year (especially with the lack of workers that the USPS has provided for us), but I just can’t help getting a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I see the look on a kid’s face when they get that card or package from Grandma!
In Elizabeth City we have our Christmas party coming up and hope that everyone in our state is healthy, happy and SAFEty during this Holiday Season.
We do have another thing on our plate at this time. As of December 2 we had 17 new names on HR 5746. This is a start, but we REALLY need to write our congressional members and ask them to co-sponsor this bill.
President Obama has announced a proposed federal wage freeze for two years. Now this doesn’t affect us directly, but with our negotiations set to start next year, this will give leverage to management for our next contract. It’s a tough road, but EVERYONE needs to write their congress members about the importance of HR 5746 to the health of the USPS.
OK, I have stumped and done my part, do your and contact your congressional representative and let’s get this passed before the Christmas recess.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! I hope to see everyone in Myrtle Beach in March.
